Description: Carter falls in love with Marian, but she's confused and torn between Robin and Guy. Carter tries to convince her to see that Guy is not good for her, and Robin would leave her again. When Marian continues to refuse him, he leaves again for the Holy Land. Finally, Marian's eyes open to the truth, and she sets out to the Holy Land to reunite with her one true love.
Dedicated to: Giulia, for her coming-of-age birthday challenge on 7 May.
Notes: I joined YouTube and posted my very first video on 13 April 2006. I never thought I would be around two years later, or that I would eventually reach 2,000 subscribers! This video celebrates both. :)

Title: Breakable

Description: This video is based on a Guy/Marian fanfiction called "The Countess" which takes place after the series 2 finale. The link to read this amazing work is at the end of the description. This video loosely covers the first few chapters, during which Marian is recovering from a serious wound under the care of Guy of Gisborne, whose position in England has changed since the finale. They're on a ship sailing from Acre to Marseille, and while things don't start out very well (for whatever reason, Marian's mad at Guy - hehe) their relationship changes as they begin to really understand each other. In the video, the color shots are taking place on the ship and just after they arrive in Marseilles. The black and white shots are Marian's realizations of just how badly she's used and abused Guy.

Note: there is no Marian in this video.

Title: Black Balloon

Description: Allan sees Marian for the first time and falls in love, but he's forced to play one of Robin's sidekicks as Robin gets the girl. When Marian is forced into the castle under Guy's domain, Allan gets himself kicked out of the gang in order to get on Guy's good side and be closer to Marian. During his stint in the castle, he spends his time trying (and sometimes failing) to defend Marian from the sheriff and Gisborne, and all the while his love for her grows. He sees the effect she has on Gisborne and begins to realize that he is the only person who knows Marian for what she truly is, and it makes him fall for her even more. Eventually he gets tired of waiting around for her, and tells her how he feels. She reacts angrily as she's torn between Guy and Robin, but eventually realizes Allan is the only person who knows and loves her true self, thus "I'll become what you became to me."
Inspired by: The line in the song "I'll become what you became to me," which screamed Allan/Marian to me. Frequently, Goo Goo Dolls songs are inspirations all on their own with their descriptive lyrics, and lines jump out at me and form entire storylines.

However, even as she begins taking up the mantle of protecting Nottingham in Robin's wake, and as the outlaws scatter and Allan comes under the protection of Guy, Marian still feels that pull, that lust toward Guy. Title: Missing

Description: Marian dies at the beginning, with a last hope that Robin and Guy can put aside their differences and try to get along. Unfortunately, Robin and Guy blame each other for Marian's death, and mutual dislike turns into mutual hatred. From beyond her grave, she agonizes over the fact that Robin and Guy don't seem to miss her enough to fulfill her dying wish. Moreover, while Robin sees Marian's ghost everywhere he goes, watching him sadly, Guy never realizes Marian is there, furthering her agony. When Robin finally avenges Marian's death, she visits him one last time and disappears forever, making him realize (too late) the danger of obsession.
Inspired by: Lucy Griffith's striking resemblance to Amy Lee. It made me sort of think that she'd be singing the song the whole time.

Description: Chronological recap of Robin and Marian's love affair up to the end of series 1. Sound clips are interspersed along with clips of her engagement to Gisborne.
Notes: This was largely motivated by the way this song has been misused by other vidders. I don't think myself better than those others, but I do think there's a correct way to use a song like this, with its vague lyrics yet beautiful melody. Since the song itself doesn't tell a story, a story needed to be told with it, otherwise it'd be boring. So the story of Robin and Marian unfolded, slowly building to the climax at the end with her brush with death as the song tempo picks up.
