Title: Forgiven

Description: AU. Adam and Claire meet, and he promises to never leave her, because what does age matter to them when they're going to outlive everyone else anyway? But Adam breaks his promise, and dies in the process, leaving Claire to grieve about losing him and about being the only person left with everlasting life. Claire doesn't know that Adam is actually alive and imprisoned, and makes friends with the person in the cell next to him. He only discovers his neighbor's identity when Claire visits him, and he turns out to be Peter Petrelli, Claire's uncle. Adam listens to Claire talking to Peter but doesn't have the courage to face her. Eventually Peter and Adam are released, and he finds Claire, who reacts as badly as he thought she would, refusing to forgive him for the broken promise and the grief he'd caused. Later, Claire is caught in an explosion, and the only thing that can save her is Adam's blood, and he and Peter rush to save her. This selfless act in wins her gratefulness and forgiveness in the end.

Notes: This pair was actually suggested by my boyfriend, who pointed out their similar powers as we watched the season 1 pilot. It took me seven months to execute it, but I think it's brilliant.
